China buys new internet space

31 mei 2016

china euMore than half of new domain names (54%) are being registered by Chinese investors, leading over the US and Europe.
China  has a good grip on the internet market, by buying already registered .com, .co.uk and .de addresses and by registering new extensions such as .club, .top or .xyz. According to domain commerce site sedo.com the number of domain names registered in China rose by 400% between 2013 and 2015.

Real Estate
According to Sedo´s VP of Business Development, Matthias Meyer-Schoenherr, this development can have consequences for Western companies with worldwide operations. “You can compare domain names with real estate. The Chinese are buying all the new land and have claimed all prime locations. Every domain is unique and short and catchy .com domains names are being sold for millions of euros, especially to China.

Lucrative
Domain name speculation is generally lucrative and has a future. Initial registration of internet addresses with new extensions – so-called ngTLD (new generic Top Level Domains) will cost about 60 euro per domain. However, ngTLD domains are being re-sold via Sedo for an average of 1500 euro.

Verwachting voor Drupa: licht bewolkt, waarschuwing voor digital hype

31 mei 2016
Categorie:

Forecast for drupa: cloudy and a lot of digital hype

31 mei 2016
Categorie: ,

Schermafbeelding 2016-05-31 om 08.06.39Drupa is starting to day, and against tradition is not going to be a warm drupa. The other problem for visitors is the gigantic hype around digital printing. One can easily forget offset and flexo are in many cases the best way to put ink on paper.

Interesting is digital printing for sure. And a visit to the Heidelberg hall to see the new Primefire is a must. As is visiting the HP hall, now the biggest exhibitor, in this enormous hall you can see every digital output technique in every printing format possible. Also worth a visit is the booth of Screen with the complete line of Truepress digital presses and Xerox where the Rialto, the affordable Rialto small web press is getting company with new sheetfed digital presses. Maybe even more interesting digital developments are to find in the DIP pavilion where small and big companies are showing workflow and automating solutions that not only can lower the cost of printing and the time to produce print but also can find and keep customers like the Agfa Arkitex software for packaging.

So you are warrend for 11 days drupa, 11 days I will follow from a warm Jerez de la Frontera Behind the Geranium (read here the special Drupa Magazine), supported by team of Blokboek.com, booth EN06 North Entrance, that will put all the news on our special drupa page. Matchmycolor introduces new-generation, cloud-based Colibri® software for global color management

30 mei 2016
Categorie: ,,

Print

  • Enhanced productivity: automation and management of the entire production process
  • Streamlined production: creation, management and distribution of color data
  • Improved user interface: usability, ease of use and user interaction
  • High versatility: easy scaling from single to large enterprise installations, suitable for all processes and substrates
  • Full compliance with industry standards
  • New interface design reflects “seamless blend of art and science”
  • Demonstration at drupa, stands F20 in Hall 07a and A21 in Hall 09

matchmycolor today announces the introduction of its new-generation, cloud-based Colibri® color- management and color-monitoring software for the graphic arts, print and ink industry. Easy to use and customize, the versatile new system helps to enhance productivity and streamline production, while complying fully with industry standards. The HTML5-powered user interface has been designed to reflect the combined technological and esthetic aspects of color management. The new software will be continuously demonstrated throughout drupa.

matchmycolor software and application experts have developed a unique framework to give Colibri a cutting-edge interface. The modern technology ensures that the new software is suitable for brand owners, brand management, prepress, and production, irrespective of processes and substrates.

Senior software engineer Alexander Timmermans led development of the new framework at matchmycolor: “Our vision was to fuse web and rich client or native application and create a one-software platform using the same, highly responsive interface,” he explains.

Numerous new features help users to enhance productivity and streamline production. A single click enables thousands of color patches to be loaded, including ISO control strips and FOGRA media wedges, and prints to be checked for suitability. Process and spot colors can be managed in one step. Interactive zoom-in charting improves result analysis, while custom job scoring allows a fast overview of performance and advance reporting. A universal search function covering the whole database uses wild cards or custom criteria for quick retrieval of standards, recipes and quality control data. The software allows seamless integration with color matching and dispensing.

The new Colibri color management system complies fully with industry standards. The versatile software, which can be used on Windows, OSX, Android, IOS and Linux, is compatible with all major browsers, touch-sensitive, and scalable on tablets and mobile devices. The user interface has a highly responsive design and requires no page reloads or page refreshments. Designers with no IT knowledge can easily customize the software to clients’ requirements. Colibri provides fully configurable views for both expert and standard users, showing and highlighting only the data or information needed.

“The user interface was designed by a London-based agency to reflect a seamless blend of art and science” says Benjamin Schudel, Software Project Leader at matchmycolor. This adds to the versatility and simplicity of the system.

The new Colibri color management software will be demonstrated throughout drupa in a presentation entitled “Exploration of colors around the world” at the Konica Minolta Sensing and Techkon stands, F20 in Hall 07a and A21 in Hall 09.

matchmycolor software was used in the production of three limited-edition art posters depicting Düsseldorf city scenes. The shifts between colors allow designers, artists and engineers to examine the behavioral effects of color palettes under different real-world conditions. The three artworks, “Classic”, “Street” and “Architectural”, depict a stained glass window from St. Suitbertus Basilica, wall graffiti ‒ “Rusted Ideas” ‒ and plastic figures on a building ‒ “Flossis” ‒ respectively. Posters can be obtained free of charge at the stands or ordered online at http://drupa2016.matchmycolor.com.
