Young people choose more expensive Christmas cards

A remarkable news item in Printweek: millenials in the UK buy fewer Christmas cards, but those that they do buy are the more expensive, unique cards. Researcher Mintel concludes that only 43% of people between 16 and 24 years old, and 49% of people between 25 and 34 years old bought Christmas cards last year. 75% of people of 65 years and up send their Christmas cards via mail. A third of young people send their digital Christmas wishes via social media.
However, more has been spent on Christmas cards. In 2012 turnover in the UK was 140 million pounds. In 2016 this had grown to 225 million pounds. Mainly because young people buy more expensive, unique cards with beautiful finishing. Conclusion: quality over quantity.
